so electric by lifelike
lifelike has been one of my favourites since i first heard it, and this song is no different. although not exactly a very recent creation, it certainly hasn’t lost any of its freshness. and so this awesome ensemble of synths brings us to mixtape no. 2:
the week of mixtapes, part 2
so cosmic by cut copy
this mixtape goes back as far as december of 2007. but since then it’s one of the most played mixtapes in my playlist, as it’s still frickin’ good. songs from more than 30 years ago side by side with (then) latest and greatest. although technically it’s not a mixtape made with the highest of mixing skills, the contents make up for it for sure.
originally posted in cut copy blog (they also tidbits about each of the songs in the mix), but the download itself doesn’t seem to be available there anymore. so if this list seems interesting to you, scroll a bit down.

hearts on fire (the disco pusher remix) by cut copy
this song has been going on both in my head and in my earphones for the last week. at first there seemed to be something amiss in this remix. but i couldn’t tell what it was. i listened to it once, then moved on. but next day, i heard it again. and i thought, wait – there’s something weird going on here. and i listened to it again, and then once more…
but i still haven’t figured what’s going on with this remix. the funky bass line and the soft synths and the heavy reverb on vocals seem so weird mix that it actually seems to make sense. i think…

kept low (cut copy remix 12” version) by mercy arms
holy shit! i mean, this track has been out over a year. and i didn’t know it existed until today. what’s up with that? i know it takes time for airwaves to travel from australia, but c’mon ;)
anyways, even though the guys look like some dudes from latfh, the simple rule still applies: 1 australian band + 1 australian remixer = 1 awesome tune

to be honest, i did want to post my most played track. but just a few plays behind the most played track was this lovely tune. besides the plays over time ratio seems to be higher on css anyways ;)
